How to choose your Rocket SUP DW pro?
The ROCKET SUP DW PRO CARBON was designed to minimize drag and to promote early and efficient take-offs in any conditions, whether it’s flat waters or big open ocean bumps.
This board benefits from the best compromise between length, width and volume so as to remain accessible to the highest number of riders. Its long and narrow shape brings fantastic glide and high speed for paddle starts, while its boxy rails lead to great stability.
With the ROCKET SUP DW PRO CARBON, paddle efficiently and get onto foil easily and unbelievably fast all while benefitting from great stability. Volume is distributed to keep the rider’s paddling position very close to the flying position and to minimize changes in the feet and stance. The balance between the front and back leg is excellent, allowing you to put just the right amount of power on the front leg before and during the take-off phase without the board ever nose diving.
The nose is streamlined and keeps enough volume and buoyancy for aggressive paddling and take-off, further helping in getting some momentum for easy starts when in the bumps. The tail is pinched in to improve water flow and reduce the drag. The lower tail volume also helps rocking and pumping the board for take-off.
The rails have been optimized for more comfort during take-offs and in the air. The bevel on the lower rail makes the board easier to handle during touchdowns and reduces friction at speed. The hard chines of the bevel improve water separation, thus helping during take-off and reducing deceleration on touchdowns. A third chine at the back provides extra stability and improves water separation at the tail as well.
Finally, the flat hull noticeably features a small step which brings air onto the rear part of the hull. This reduces friction and once again helps during take-off.
Once up on the foil, the board is designed to be super stable. The subtle, recessed cockpit-like deck lowers your center of gravity and brings you closer to the foil, leading to excellent control of the board in-flight.
This board benefits from a HD Foam Carbon Composite construction. This light and stiff construction increases the board’s maneuverability and results in an even more direct feel of the foil. Control is absolute throughout the entire downwind, even at high speeds.
With its outstanding and easy take-off abilities, this board will satisfy all riders and make downwind further accessible to those who always wanted to try. It can also surf really well, even in very small waves. Take off far outside on non-breaking waves and make the most of the board’s maneuverability and direct feeling to surf until the shore break.
It is available in three different widths: 18” (80.5L – 110L), 19” (86L – 110L) and 20” (98L – 130L). This makes for a total of 15 different sizes to choose from depending on the needed volume and length, as well as the skill level of each rider. All boards are equipped with a full pad and the Twin-Tracks system for foil compatibility. These Twin-Tracks are positioned further forward to reflect the new balance of the board and again to facilitate take-off, pumping and flying behavior.
The perfect balance between stability, accessibility, glide and easy starts, the ROCKET SUP DW PRO CARBON will undoubtedly get you hooked on downwinds.
The volume, width and length of the board are the three most important features we’re going to look at. But the wind/swells conditions where you will ride are also very important. You simply have to add a certain number of liters to your weight depending on your level:
• Beginner: You will need at least a volume of 40L above your weight. (ex: 70kg = 110L)
• Intermediate: You will need a volume of around 30L above your weight. (ex: 70kg = 100L)
• Advanced/Experts: You will be able to choose an even smaller volume (ex: 70kg = 90l)How to choose your SUP DW PRO board? How to choose your SUP DW PRO board?1Volume
Width ProgramsThe wind and swells that you will mostly be riding in are important to consider too:
• If you will mostly be riding in a windy place without ground swells (ex: the Mediterranean Sea, the Gorges), you can target a shorter board. These conditions are easier to take off in because bumps are mostly slow and steep. Keeping a compact board will provide a better maneuverability and a good pumping so you can connect the small and crosswind bumps.
• If you are riding in light winds (ex: Caribbean Islands), you will need a longer board that provides more glide to take off on rounder bumps, with minor help from the wind.
• If you are riding in ground swells (ex: Hawaii), then you need as much glide as possible to take off on these big, fast-moving bumps, and a longer board will be a big help. This board benefits from the best compromise between length, width, and volume so as to remain accessible to the highest number of riders. This is definitely the most versatile one of the range, and the board of choice to downwind, wing foil, surf... Having it in your quiver opens up a whole new world. This board is for the riders who want to focus more on the downwind discipline. It will require a good balance but will provide an incredible speed to take off anywhere without trouble. Clearly for experts, this range is designed for pure downwind. Made to tackle big runs in big conditions, the 18” is the weapon of choice of our athletes. The longer models (7’0 +) benefit from a very thin outline and pintail, providing enough speed to take off on bigger swells. How to choose your SUP DW PRO board? How to choose your SUP DW PRO board?243Conditions
